Log Homes a Popular Option for Mortgage-Free Living
Students of The Log Home Builder's Association of North America are building log homes without kits and in many cases, without mortgages. The Association offers two day classes on building log homes from scratch. More information is available on the Association's website at http://www.loghomebuilders.org/.
Seattle, WA (PRWEB via PR Web
Direct) January 6, 2005 -- Log homes and log cabins have experienced a
resurgence among home buyers the past few years, but the rising cost of modern
log homes can be prohibitive, according to an informal survey of members of the
Log Home Builder's Association of North America at http://www.loghomebuilders.org/. "More and more of our
students are building their log homes without a mortgage," said Ellsworth, an
association instructor.
The Log Home Builder's Association of North
America offers a two-day class on building log homes from scratch without log
home kits. Eliminating the kit and building a log home from scratch can save the
builder huge amounts of money. In addition, the use of pioneering techniques
during construction can save the builder even more. Part of the Association's
class focuses on pioneering techniques such as lifting logs without the use of
an expensive crane.
"It is amazing what you can learn in just two days,"
said Rebecca Fernandez, a student who attended the class last winter with her
husband Mark. "We are currently building our log home and it's hard to believe
how easy it is. If we can do it, anyone can." Rebecca and Mark recently bought
land in North Carolina and began building their log home. "We bought the land
with owner financing and only $1500 down, and we're paying for the house as we
go," added Mark. "So when it's finished we won't have any mortgage at
all."
