3rd Annual Bono Birthday Fundraiser Continues, Fans Give Generously
The African Well Fund's 3rd Annual "Build a Well for Bono's Birthday" fundraiser has raised over $10,000 midway through the campaign. The fundraiser continues through May 1st.
Schenectady, NY (PRWEB) April 17, 2005 -- The African Well Fund’s 3rd Annual
“Build a Well For Bono’s Birthday” campaign is off to a an extraordinary start!
Midway through the campaign, over $10,000 has been raised. The fundraiser
continues through May 1st and AWF hopes to double or triple that amount by
then.
The Birthday Well campaign was launched on March 27th in San Diego
at the Hard Rock Café with a party hosted by @U2, a U2 fan website. Over $3500
was raised that evening, and since that time donations and birthday greetings
have poured in from all over the world. Please visit www.africanwellfund.org
for complete instructions on how to donate and how to leave an online birthday
message for Bono. The messages will be collected and delivered to Bono, along
with a “Well Share” for the amount raised.
This year’s campaign is an
especially exciting one, as it coincides with the first leg of U2’s Vertigo
tour. African Well Fund volunteers have been distributing flyers at all the
Vertigo tour dates thus far and will continue to do so throughout the tour. The
African Well Fund is actively seeking participation from tour city radio
stations and collaboration with pre-concert events to highlight this issue.
ShowbizIreland.com and Variety.com have generously donated ad space on their web
sites for the campaign. The fundraiser has also received mentions on MTV.com and
in the VH1/Westwood One newsletter as well as on various radio station websites
throughout the country. In addition, many radio stations are airing public
service announcements in support of the drive and The Reader, a weekly
alternative Omaha newspaper has donated ad space to the campaign
All
donations from the campaign go directly to Africare’s water project programs.
